WEEK 3

More UI

The main menu now has a working Options button with a pop-out dialog box.

The Options menu was also re-used in the pause menu. Speaking of... our lovely pause screen!

...yeah, it's kind of basic, but that's all we need it to be.


Enemy Update

This week there has been a huge leap in progress for the functionality of the game. Unique functionality for both the medium and heavy enemy types have been implemented! While they aren't completely polished, this allows us to get on with tying the game together and getting on with other important tasks.

Medium

The all-rounder that sprays disks with a wide spread. Faster than the heavy but can't keep up with a light. Eventually going to be able to interact with buttons and switches in levels.


Heavy

While it is the slowest of the enemies, it hits like a truck with big blasts that explode into smaller projectiles. Will eventually be able to push heavy objects around the level.


Sounds

New sounds include:

  • Medium shooting
  • Heady shooting
  • UI Button clicks

The newly added Medium and Heavy enemies have their own respective firing sounds. The medium uses a slightly altered version of the Light's firing sound. The heavy's was made using drum sounds plastered with a bunch of effects.

Sounds are now properly played as either SFX or Music, allowing for volume to be adjusted in Options.


Virus Shot

A little bit of QoL on the virus shot making it stand out in the bleak world


Bugs!

Some bugs we fixed:

  • Blinking text on the Main Menu now continues properly after using the Options menu

New bugs we need to fix:

  • The player can shoot while the game is paused
  • Exiting and starting a new game causes the health bars to be invisible
